Type of diabetes
Type 1.5
Treatment type
Tablets (oral)
I had a series of symptoms such as excessive drinking, excessive urination, constant fatigue
I took a blood test
I went to an endocrinologist for 317 fasting sugars and 10.7 a1c,
Metformin was prescribed for me and anti-gad test
The result of the antibody test was positive
But with metformin, the fasting sugar is 80 and the after meal sugar is 130
I repeat my tests after three months. and the result is:
anti-gad negative
c peptide 3.7 normal range is .9 – 7
A1c 5.4
fasting blood glucose 92
after meal glucose 101
I am confused. what type am I?
type 1, type 2, Lada, not diabetic.
can I hear your opinion?

Type of diabetes
Reactive hypoglycemia
Treatment type
I do not have diabetes
My opinion having a rare metabolic condition is that you need more tests.
And only a specialist endocrinologist can do this?

At one time I was misdiagnosed but I was lucky to find a really good endocrinologist.

The results seem to be something unusual going on.

Hi architesa, and welcome

One of the rules on the forum is that no-one here can or should attempt a diagnosis. We are simply not competent to do that. Having said that, there will be many people here who have had similar experiences to yours, and that sort of information might help you steer your way through.

The units you've quoted (mg/dl and A1c as %) aren't the ones normally used in the UK these days: the graphic I'm attaching shows in the top set what % results are when given in mmol/mol for HbA1c. To convert mg/dl to mmol/l divide by 18 - so 180mg/dl = 10mmol/l, 90mg/dl = 5mmol/l.
