Hi All

Coming up to my months anniversary of being diagnosed T2. Have managed to get my fasting Bg from 16.1 to 7.4 & was hoping that I would soon be getting under that illusive 7.0 first thing in the morning, I'm suspecting that I get the dawn phenomenon that I have read about as I am going to bed at about 6.0.

Is there anything I can do to help get under the 7.0 in the morning?? I am low carbing, about 20g per day & am on 2x500g metformin (breakfast/evening) its just a mystery to me.....

Also this morning my Bg was at 10.0 the highest it has been for 2 weeks??? Went to bed on 5.7 last night & was very sluggish getting up this morning which I haven't been for ages... guessing the high Bg's is why...

Have been waking with a sore throat, could this be something to do with it??

Have to confess I am a serial tester although was told 3 weeks ago to only test once a day I am still pretty much testing before & after every meal...

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Linzi. x

Hi .

Could just be that you are going down with something, a cold perhaps. I've just had a week full of it and waking bg's varied anywhere between 4.2 and 12.9......Eeek ! That despite doing nothing any different at all, Diet or Med's ? It is only just starting to settle down now.

Time will tell if its illness - release of stress hormones block insulin from working, which is of course double whammy if you are already resistant

Some people swear by a snack at night - slow release carbs such as oatcake and cheese, or just cheese or nuts in order to combat Dawn Phenomenon so maybe try that.

Also, do you need to introduce some Met or medication? Or change meds? No shame in it

I totally understand T2 reluctance if you can manage on D and E but as T1 who would kick the bucket without insulin........
