.....it happens a lot lol.

Had some Longkou vermicelli (glass noodles) with curry for tea tonight, instead of rice or pasta. Checked the packet & carbs are 80 per 100 grms, packet 50 grms =40grms. (With me so far lol), However when I looked at ingredients it says 100% haricot verts, & also mung beans 95% & water. So what have I eaten? Mung beans or haricot beans. Or are they the same thing? lol. I know 40grms of rice or pasta would have spiked me much more.

Just tested after 2 hrs & bg gone from 3.2 to 4.4, which it not the result I expected from 40grms of carbs. Have I found a low carb alternative for rice & pasta that i actually like?

I'm relying on someone knowing the answer, please, thank you.

Sorry for rambling lol

its likely because these beans are pulses, just like baked beans, which are processed very slowly........so slowly in fact that it is taught in DAFNE, the type 1 dose adjustment course, not to take insulin for them as the quick acting insulin profile is too fast for their digestion.

this is likely why there has been not much movement in your blood sugars, which is good, especially for a noodle.......

just watch out for hypos if your on medication, whether your type 2 or 1....

and if you are type 1, which i think your not, consider taking no insulin, or at the very least, experiment with reduced doses........

Thanks for replying huni, appreciate that. Hypos are a daily occurrence atm sadly, due to lower carbing & Glic. Been to Drs today, not a good experience sigh.

You might want to try leaving the Glic out for a couple of days and then check your levels. I came off it last month because of too many hypos and have been fine since. Had to do it myself first before I could convince my GP.

You went from 3.2 to 4.4 after two hours. Is there a problem? In my eyes that is quite ok.

Mung beans and haricots are both beans, although haricots are usually eaten young with the pod, before the beans are formed or at least still very small.
