Hi not sure if this is the correct place to post but here goes!!
Been to the doctors had a fasting glucose test which came back as 6.8 the doctor has advised me that as my cholesterol is only 3 and my triglycerides are not elevated that 6.8 is absolutely normal and does not feel I need further tests. My father and two of my sisters who are diabetic disagree as I am constantly fatigued and have at times blurred vision also I am continually hungry??? Any thoughts or advice thanx xx

Can you request a HbA1C test rather than a fasting test, this would give you a better indication of your blood glucose levels over about 12 weeks rather than just a few hours

OR if your dad or sisters live close by, could you do a quick check using their testing meter? test before and 2 hours after a meal such as toast or pasta to see if it stays elevated or lowers quickly

Thanx think I may see a different doctor and ask really unsure as the doctor who I saw today said it was not necessary (and it is his practice!) xx

Fasting over 5.5 is prediabetic and 7.1 is diabetic
Time to cut your carbs
As I've had gestational diabetes three times and had to cut back on carbs then am not a great carb lover now but thanx anyway xx

6.8 fasting blood test is higher than normal, and your cholesterol has nothing to do with it. It is certainly pre-diabetic. You need an HbA1c test to make sure.

If you are lowish carb now, you are reducing your bg and an A1c won't tell the truth
A ogtt is needed and you eat more than 150g a day

My a1c is 5.6% low carb, normal diet is 7.5%
It says I'm normal but I'm really a diet met controled diabetic
The a1c will be correct for the diet you are eating now.

This is why an ogtt is better
