I have type two diabetes and am struggling to get my reading below 20-25. I am. Have double vision, I have stopped driving. . I had an appointment with DN and I am on 2000mg metformin sr and 360 mg Gliclazide also 100mg of januvia, none of this has worked so she is talking about putting me on an injection not insulin, one a day. She needed to speak to the DD as I am on ally of medications and she needed to check if I could take it. I am still waiting to hear that was 4 days ago and now it's the weekend, I now feel awful, so depressed, tired, just not wanting to be here, and I don't know what to do. I have no appetite, please can some one help

Sorry to hear you're feeling so rough, lots of here can understand what you're going through, but there are things you can do to try and help.
Can I ask what you're eating? The advice you get from diabetic nurses is usually not the best, and many on here have had better results following a low carb higher fat diet, the DietDoctor link in my signature is a good start, also having a good read of the forums is very helpful.
My BG was 30+ two months ago but it's now an average of 6-10 and I've lost weight too.
If you want to buy a couple of books the 2 in my signature are recommended by many on this forum and I found them to be the most helpful. Carbs and cals is just what it say, a picture dictionary of most foods and the carbs and cals for different portion sizes, and Eat More Fat explains the low carb high fat diet in a very easy to read and understand format, with recipes etc to help more.

Good luck, you've come to the right place to get the best advice, and ask any questions you need, there's usually someone around to help :)

The Eat Fat book is nice big print too, I couldn't read anything else to start with as my eyes were bad too, they're fine now though ;)

I have read the lchf book, at the moment I am struggling to eat as that confused me and I have no appetite but when I can I have a banana for breakfast soup for lunch and a home cooked meal for tea but I rarely get all three of those in?

Was it the Eat fat book? What was it that confused you?
Do you make your own soup? It's easy to make and much better than tinned soup which is full of carbs.

@Zoeout , welcome.

You should drop the bananas, they are full of sugar and no help to you at all.

Does your cooked evening meal include potatoes, pasta or rice? They too are the enemy if you want to lower your blood sugars.

The diet advice given out by DNs and the NHS in general is rubbish unfortunately.

Have a read of the first item in my sig below and ask any questions. But you need to get your BG levels down urgently.

What sanguine said, definitely lose the banana for breakfast. To be honest, having just a banana and nothing else sounds like about the worst breakfast you could choose.

With your current BG levels you really should give LCHF a serious try. If you need any specific advice on what foods to include and what avoid please ask away. :)

I cant help much, but my eyes got worse when I started medication but then got better. Gave me a real scare.xxx
Hi! Time to start another thread and tell us how you're doing, do you think? Glad your eyesight has improved.

Hello @Zoeout and welcome. Others here have given you good advice and we often hear on the forum how more and more drugs just seem to make things worse. Even my GP agrees. I hope you will see how your life can be gradually turned around. I know it's very confusing to start with but we're always here to try to answer your questions and support you even if we can't (we're not doctors, but we're very experienced diabetics!) :)

The banana is a real no no.
With your high readings you need to seriously cut out any cereals for breakfast too.
No bread.
Please have a look at this link and think about it compared to what you might be doing now.
