Constant BG monitoring devices (Question for uni project)

Are there any on the market presently in use? I am looking at my final project for my engineering degree, designing a device that uses nanotechnology as a device that can show constant readings, but before seriously considering it, if there is something already on the market, its kind of unfeasible (The idea being something that has less environmental impact, and in my case, the amount of BG test strips you go through is not exactly environmentally friendly)

the key words to look for are CGM - continuous glucose monitor - yes, there are some being developed and some in use, but as far as I know, the big problem is that they all have a delay on them so they tell you what your bg was several minutes ago. If you are just looking to see how your bg changes over the day that's fine, but if you want to use them to check for hypos etc they are too slow.
It's kind of the holy grail at the moment, to get a CGM that works in real time and can then link up with an insulin pump. If you crack it you'll be rich!

I suggest you do some searching . There are quite a few systems under development This Journal might also help with background info .http://www.journalofdst.org/

Id seen them, but they dont sit in the bloodstream, which is what im looking at, but they are a good start....cheers

Back again, lol....right, are there currently any products out there for measuring BG whilst driving (Couldnt see any myself)? Was thinking particularly in terms of hypos occurring whilst driving, and some sort of alert system to alert the driver that they may be at risk of slipping into one without noticing. probably through CGM of some type then bluetoothed to something in the vehicle which can be the alert device (Not really had much experience of this as im a t2, and have enough fun trying to get the numbers down, never mind worrying getting them too low - only happened on a couple of occassions, and i just adjusted my meds...)

There will be a c8 medisensor at some point that will be available to wear, i believe, when you want to.. Unlike cgms that are constant.

For anybody wanting to devise a device to help diabetics with hypos I would have to say that one that you could turn on/off or take on/off without losing data etc or money would from my apect be fantastic thing.

I am a cgm user. I love it for car driving and for my work which is ver physical. At other times of just being in my house, I so wish I could just stop it and save the sensor life for the times when I want to use it.

I think this c8 sensor is not invasive at all and somehow sends a light sensor in to stomach.. But it isnt available yet.. And I dont know how accurate it will be.. There was a similar thing called a glucowatch available in USA for a time..
