I am suffering from bouts of sweating and over-heating in face and head. Much worse than hot flashes-I am 65 so should be over that? My heart rate increases too and pounding in head. It lasts only a minute or two but happens several times a day. Is this diabetic related? I was diagnosed T2 10 months ago, am on 1x500mg Metformin daily. Have lost over 2 stone in weight since diagnosis and bloods kept in normal range. My first H1a1c reading was 75 and after 4 months down to 53.

When did you last have your blood pressure tested?

Do you have a glucose meter and test during these hot flashes? I feel hot when my sugar is too high. Easy to find out if that's the problem.

Have you had your thyroid checked out? Diabetes and thyroid problems go hand in hand as does vitamin D deficiency. I sweat and get hot flushes from these and I’m only 36.

I agree with the blood pressure comment. I get postural hypotension - low blood pressure/a big drop when I stand up. Minor episodes can feel like pounding in the head and faster pulse, while bad ones can result in 'seeing stars', partial or total loss of vision, fainting, and sweating when I wake up. Even if your blood pressure is normal, this can still happen to you.

Alternatively, anxiety or stress. I am a very cold person but anxiety makes me sweat A LOT.

Thanks Lisa. I actually have under active thyroid for about 10 years-am on 75mg per day Eltroxin. Had almost forgotten that in my focus on the diabetes! Also started vitamin D supplements but keep forgetting to take regularly. Must get more careful with overall health check-ups. Don’t have much faith/trust in the medical profession.
