I find a low carb, increased fat diet the best way to control diabetes & satisfy hunger. The best source of quality food IMO is powdered nuts - ground almonds; coconut (preferably as flour, but can be fine desiccated.) Flax seed (milled) is also useful. I find about 50 g of mixed nut powder makes a sustaining "porridge" that lasts about 4 hours. Cereal b'fast last only about 2 hours.
I use a range of nut recipes & stay healthy & active at 74. 4 sets of tennis today without tiring, & only drinking water.
Proteins & fats are slower to digest than carbs & last longer.
Hope that helps.

I had (and still have) a lot of weight to lose. On the low carb diet, I've lost just over 3 stones. I didn't do it for weight loss, but to control my blood glucose levels, the weight loss has been a nice little side effect.
After years of low-fat dieting, I found it quite difficult to get out of the low fat mind-set at first, but once you start seeing the weight drop you realise that it makes sense.
I keep fish sticks (surimi) in the fridge for snacks, along with various cooked meats, and lots and lots of sugar free jelly. If I'm particularly hungry and can't get past that, I have a low sugar low carb protein shake (USN Diet fuel... tastes rank, but does the job).
Sid Bonkers said:I find the best way to stop feelings of hunger is to make suer I am busy, if I am sitting around with nothing to do I get hungry, when I am busy whatever I am doing I dont get hungry.
If I get engrossed in what I am doing the time flys and if I am not careful I find I can miss meals by an hour or two because I wasnt taking note of the time.
Another thing to try is to drink a glass of water when you feel hungry, thirst and hunger are almost identical in there physical feelings, sometimes a drink of water can make your imagined hunger disappear.
Keep hydrated and keep busy
