What are your natural remedies to keep bowel movement regular?

thanks!

Flaxseed-2 teaspoon with 1teaspoon chia seeds with defeosted frozen berries from Lidl with double cream.

The best natural remedy ever, for me.

Drinking enough
Eating high fat
Plenty of veg
And, if those fall down (like on hol, or forced out out of diet comfort zone, for any reason) Lepicol

Make sure to include plenty of fibre in your diet and drinking plenty is enough to keep the bowels moving, also exercising is beneficial too.

Keep active plus drink plenty of water .
Keeps things moist rehydrate and moving

I've been feeling constipated since December 1st after cutting down to having 100 grams of carbs from 150+ and i've only been able to pass liquid stools and an untold amount of gas. My blood sugar levels have been high some times (due to stress) but they have not been higher than 15. I've not felt dehydrated, but my gut has been making severely loud noises and I've been passing gas out of both ends a 100 times or more a day. I've been able to stop the loud noises coming from my gut by having a fizzy drink.

My appetite has also gone down by a considerable amount, as i had breakfast today of 3 eggs and 2 rashers of bacon and could only manage to eat 2 eggs and 1 rasher of bacon. I have not felt hungry all day and I had my breakfast at 9am, but my blood sugars have been bordering around 4 - 5 so i've had to have a sugary drink as I am still taking my meds of lixisenatide, gliclazide, metformin and ramipril. I don't know what I can do help not feel constipated apart from having some fruit n fibre cereal, bread, porridge etc. I'm going to make an appointment tomorrow to see the doc if he is available on the day.

That's weird.
Constipation is usually hard, reluctant stools rather than gassy liquid.
Sound more like bloat and possible medication problems.

A lot of people report the loose gassiness with metformin, especially if they go up to too large a dose too quickly. Also, if they continue to eat carbs, as you are doing.

Have you checked the listed side effects for all your medication?
And any possible clashes between them?
There are calculators on the internet which tell you which drugs will interact with each other. In my experience, doctors and nurses only know whether the most common drugs interact.

Ground flax seeds mixed with boiling water , twice a day. Each lot is 25 grams seeds +75 grams or cc of the water. I add a bit of Tabasco sauce to tart it up a bit.

20g flaxseed a day sprinkled on whatever.
Loads of water
2 walks a day
half a slice or one slice of high fibre heavily seeded wholemeal bread daily..

I've checked and my medications don't clash, but with lixisenatide the common side effects are nausea, vomiting, headache, low blood sugar. Also my dose of metformin has not changed in a year and has always been 2 500mg twice a day.

What are flax seeds and do I buy them from supermarkets?

Yes, you can buy ground/milled flaxseed from supermarkets.

Adequate fibre. Green veggies, flaxseed (in baking), nuts, fats, and plentiful amounts of fluid/water.

I'm happy with "comfortable" rather than necessarily "regular", and don't particularly worry if I occasionally miss a day.

You can also use psyllium husks for extra bulk - but I found the powdered version I tried before I got my diet properly sorted was absolutely VILE! :***:

Hi Brunneria, you maybe correct on the Meds, however you can have constipation and still pass liquid when is in a very servere form. The liqid will pass the constipated parts, which is why sometime people don't realise they are constipated because of that effect.

Hi A kind rat I agree, yes the Flaxseed will or should sort you out.

I still need to get my diet sorted out and will do in the new year. For now I have £10 to last me till I go home next Monday and what I have left are carby foods in my freezer that I have been trying to swap with my flatmates. But tonight one of my friends is getting me a McDonald's meal as he works for them.

I don't even know what psyillium husks are, but will now look up info on them.

Well last night and this morning I eventually went the loo and my bowels opened. I think that since i've been moderate LCHFing my gut is sort of adapting to the change in diet as it still expect carbs, but now i'm eating protein and fat, my gut doesn't know what to expect.

You can get ground flashed from lidel mixed with dried berries in a red packet put in drinks baking or on cereal. Yummy

You can also eat a Macdonalds, as long as you don't eat the bun or any chips. Just have the burger with a salad.
