Constipation. Low carb diet.

I am a type 2 diabetic and am on low carb diet. The low carb diet causes me constipation. What can I eat in order to resolve this problem
 
More low-starch vegs, more olive oil, additional fibre and above all else, more water - proper hydration is essential.
 
I made some biscuits with ground flax seed and a couple of these seemed to do the trick!! :D

But yes - +1 for the water. I've found that really helpful.
 
I've heard coconut oil can be useful also for constipation, apart from all other apparent benefits. Virgin coconut oil, that is, not the processed ****.
 
Water, and more water.
I also have a good heaped dessertspoon of Linwoods milled flaxseed every day, mixed in with my yogurt.
 
I use psyllium husks from amazon or eBay .half a teaspoon in a glass of water I keep it well stirred so it doesn't collect at the bottom of the glass then drink another full glass of water,worked for me
 
I use psyllium, lactulose, and laxsol tablets as my constipation has other causes as well as low carbing and is very severe.

I tried flaxseed but because I didn't drink enough water it made it much worse. I've also read on the forum that it can take up to 3 weeks to work in some people. So I will be trying it again in summer when I find it easier to drink lots of water.
 
Plenty of water, fats/oils, fibre from sources such as vegetables, some fruits, nuts, flax seed, and time for you body to adapt to your new diet.

I found that the first few weeks on my LCHF diet were a bit of a problem constipation wise, but once my body got used to its new way of eating it was much easier. I still find though that if I'm not eating enough fibre/bulk or drinking enough, I'm a bit more likely to get a bit "bunged up".

Now- flaxseed, chia seed, oregano oil tablet and special mix of olive oil dressing... Trying to combat constipation from medication has been a battle for last 10days....
