Hi
Don't know if anyone has had a similar experience of this but yesterday my 3 yr old woke up with a BG of 10.1, dropped to around 3 at lunchtime and didn't come back up all day despite reduced Novorapid and plenty of apple juice & biscuits. She was still at around 3 at bedtime (7.30) and nothing we gave her seemed to bring it back up to normal. The day was otherwise fairly normal, nothing to strenuous or exciting, she ate normally all day. We ended up on the phone to our consultant at 8.30, too worried to send her to bed with such a low reading. She thought it very strange and said 200 ml apple juice should be more than enough to bring her levels up. We checked her spare meter and new strips and the results were the same so it can't have been technical problems. She advised us to wait an hour and test again, and after giving her some lemonade as well she eventually came back up to 4.5. We then didn't give her any glargine over night and by this morning she was 14. We were just so confused as we can't work out why she was so low and not responding to the apple juice. She showed no sign of being low, other than saying she was hungry which she says a lot anyway, regardless of her BG... Could it be the weather? Although previously the heat has seemed to have had the opposite affect and sent her high.... Any thoughts really would be appreciated!
Thanks
Caitlin
