Continuous Blood Glucose Monitor

Hi,

I have just returned from my diabetic appointment with one of these monitors...I've to keep it on for 6 days then the nurse will download the information into a chart. When is the best time to be testing as this needs to be done 4x a day?

I am currently using novo mix 30 but I am changing over to humulin m3 in the next few days. The nurse is looking to see what type of insulin is best as we discussed the novo mix having too much of the rapid acting and was causing my blood sugars to drop. Is anyone else on this type?

I thought a continuous monitor took readings automatically throughout the day ? No need for you to test 4 times a day ?
 
The CGM doesn't test blood glucose in the same way as the meters - it tests some other fluid just under the skin - sorry not an expert on this! I think the meter tests show what the actual BG is at the time of the test whereas the CGM shows what it was a short while ago. From what I've read, people with CGMs do have to test their blood as well as using the CGM to confirm that the CGM is reading accurately. As I say, I'm no expert in this, so hopefully someone who is will come along and answer the question.

Exactly right Smidge. Shorty you need to test breakfast lunch dinner and bed as usual im afraid.
 
The type of cgm that hospitals allow diabetics to use for 7 days dont always allow for the results to be seen by the user. Instead, only the hospital can see the results when the data is uploaded
