Controlled guclose mointering (cgm) advise

Hi, been looking into cgm's think it would really help my type 1 diabetes. My bloods can be so different from day to day, even if I have similar days at work. Anyone with any advise pleeeassse ?

Hi Pete, yes a CGM is an incredibly useful tool for monitoring your Bg levels and response to food/exercise/stress etc, I would recommend it to anyone with type 1, sadly though they are expensive so funding is the real issue.

Hi juicyj, I use a pump at the minute, if I was to get a cgm, would it tell my pump to give me insulin accordingly ? Or do I still need to tell my pump how much to give me ?

Ok there is a pump in the accu check range that the dexcom can link to but I'm not sure which one. I don't think it will self monitor like the Medtronic new pump that will check and alter insulin for you basically a pancreas.
I'm in the c g m hunt and fight at mo so this is what I know

Dexcom roughly after all costs is 5,500 for first year

Freestyle is significantly lower however the manufactors are no longer until production can keep up with demand allowing anyone to become a new user.
The is an older one called navigator which I believe is cheap however I have been told it's not great

@Fayefaye1429, the only pumps that use Dexcom sensors are the Animas vibe and the be T-Slim. Nothing from Accuchek.

This means you still with have told so all the judgement and management the c g m will help you out with other things like some do hypo warnings hyper warnings and charts etc then you alter to it

Sorry Pete there is only one pump that does it by Medtronic everything else you did to manage c g m or pump wise hope that clears it up

Pete I'm sorry I don't know. It interfered so you just wear the pump it alarms go to there website and check it out. I guess to ask it feel like you maybe struggling managing insulin is that fair?
