When I was in hospital, yesterday morning, i was on a drip for keytones and over here in France they measure your sugars in Mg/dl, and my sugars were only 0,02 which converts into 0,00052 Mmom/L ! I don't know how long I was out for but all I remember was telling the doctors to take off my insulin drip but they didn't. When I did wake up I was freezing and terrified, I was covered in blood and I was soaking wet, after my sugars being so low I was just wondering could there be any damage? The reason I am asking is because the doctors wouldn't tell me anything, not a thing. I have a slight idea how dangerous this is, and I can't believe the doctors would put me in this situation. I am still feeling confused and shakey after this experience and I am still today having really low sugars.

Thank you

That was a big mistake not to monitor you properly and give too much drip. I hope everything goes well for you.

Do you have a blood glucose meter?

-Edit: Ahhh sorry, noticed on another thread that you have.

I'm not exactly sure on this, but meters aren't as accurate for very low or very high readings, but I don't know how wrong they can be.

Yes your images aren't perhaps the ones you meant?

What is happening to you must be pretty awful. I do hope you get your levels up soon. Can you do anything yourself, I'm thinking glucose, but I'm not a T1. Such low levels cannnot/will not be good for you, a higher level will give you time to sort yourself out, even if long term it's not a good idea.

Hi Michelle,
I can't seem to see your downloads, I wish I could so I'm just wondering and slightly perplexed .

My doctors and some lab reports ( in France ) normally use g/l , sometimes, however the lab reports use mmol/l/.
I have never seem mg/dl on a lab report.
My meter is in mg/dl so 100 on my meter would be reported 1.0g/l (which is 5.5mmol/l)
0.02g/l is 2mg/dl 0.1 mmol/l) a bit higher than you said but still incredibly low.

hi
thanks for your reply's its feels really good just to be able to talk, i feel very alone sometimes as i live in france and dont really have any support for my diabetes, i have been in and out of hospital here and in England and its the same old story! the doctors just can not stabilize me, they just say i have very brittle diabetes and thats that, i feel that my body just cant cope like it used to and am really scared that my brain is getting damaged, just like my nervous system, diabetic neuropathy thoughout my body legs arms head every where, also gastroparesis, grade1 dysplasia and rectocelle the list just goes on all due to uncontrolled i test my blood glucose about 10 times a day and do as much as i can to stablilze my diabetes but feel it is just impossible just dont know what to do anymore also feel that the doctors have given up on me because they dont understand either, it just a mess!

Hi Michelle, sorry to read of your troubles. I don't know much of your history but clearly this is more complicated than just diabetes. I think you need professional help and a lot of support. I appreciate you feel your doctor's have given up on you but you must try and persevere until someone listens ! Did the hospital give you any advice ? Can you speak to another doctor/nurse ? I can only guess how frustrated you must feel but with the right help, you can get through this. A forum is a great place for support and advice but occasionally you need professional guidance. Really hope you get the right support soon, please keep us updated.

This is good advice, you definitely need some professional help, finding the right professional is the challenge.

Re your diet. I don't know what your personal approach to diet is, but bananas and toast contain lots of carbs, which as you know is basically just sugar. Have you thought of controlling your carb intake?

A well known and briliant medical expert is Dr Bernstein who'se book http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dr-Bernstei...1404652510&sr=8-1&keywords=bernstein+diabetes
has been inspirational for many type 1 and 2 diabetics - he is a type 1 himself so he really understands the disease from your perspective.

It might seem to be a but expensive, but if you have a tablet, or kindle you get download the kindle version (on a pc of course as well).

It is a big book so you do get your money's worth. - try a sample, see if you like it.

Alternatively you could try blood sugar 101 and diet 101 by Jenny Ruhl http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...blood+sugar+10,aps&rh=i:aps,k:blood sugar 101

Again in my opinion life savers.

All the best.

I will have a look at these books they can only help, i ate a banana yesterday as i was having so many low sugars, and your right i have many health problems mostly caused due to uncontrolled diabetes, a major problem for me is that i live in france now and the language barrier doesn't help but i will keep on trying.
