Nigel, and cuglia

I wasnt aware that i was even trying to make out that a recipe was my own. Just never occurred to me that people would get so hung up. Yes though, I'm not arguing and I take your point. Common curtesy. I'm just not that way inclined myself. I'm the kind of person who if I posted something would recognise I'd thrown it into a public domain and if someone 'nicked it' I would just take that as a compliment and say 'you are welcome'. Its just how I am and I guess it is wrong of me to assume the rest of the world is like me. I'm also basically lazy. I did read through some of the forum rules etc but switched off after finding it tedious. I've said I'm sorry. I wont do it again. what more would you like?

Writing recepies, or articles about anything else for that matter, in your own words is not a problem at all but copying from another blog or website and pasting it in forums/your website/blog exactly the same, word for word, is an infringment of the copyright laws.

There is also another reason why authors of websites/blogs are not happy for not being given credit for their work. The owners of websites/blogs want as many people as possible to visit their sites, the more the better for them because if they reach a certain number of "Hits" they are offered money to put up advertising by google and other advertising companies. The more "Hits" the more money they earn. Also, the more links to their website/blog the higher they go on the search engine lists which then brings more visitors to their site earning them more money. In other words by not linking back to their site you/we are taking business away from these sites which of course they will not be happy about.

Ka mon
Exactly right. The authors can get very upset about such activity. We have had a few who threatened action here over the years and had to be placated.

If people don't have the time to do it right then just don't bother - simple really.......

:D :D :D :D :D

Is it right to be quite so agressive?

I mean... you've made your point.

Sparkles.
Nobody is being aggressive, just voicing an opinion. That's what a Forum is all about, If I wanted to be aggressive you would be in no doubt of my intentions....People shouldn't be so sensitive. How you read it is up to you. It's factual and accurate..........it is directed at anybody who posts stuff here.

I will put a few smilies in....how's that ? :D :D :D

Regards.......

I previously used quotation websites to derive vaguely pertinent one-liners for my signature. Apart from one complaint regarding my misspelling of the name Confucius I had no trouble over copyright.

Well well, Wrunkelt......fancy meeting you here......

Shame about old Confucious OR Confucius, there are many sites on the Net which use both spellings.

Fancy somebody else being so small minded to witter on about how it's spelled.

Quite right Bob......

It's a minefield for Mods etc !!! Nobody in their right mind would do the job....

Catherinecherub,
With regard to posts on a separate thread now closed (and with no wish to reopen a closed discussion but sad that the idea couldn’t have been followed through until it was polished or trashed. ) I would just like you to know that I had not actually made the connection that it was you who started the copyright issue.

At least, I had known it was you -but then lost that knowledge --because ultimately ‘who started the idea’ was not important to me. It was the idea itself (in this case ‘copyright infringement’) that was important. I have to admit I did find it very challenging. … The idea that ‘copright infringement’ would be taken so seriously here. It didn’t agree with the way I see the world, the net, or forum involvement for ordinary plebs like me in what I considered was a site of random plebs like me..(all be it diabetic ones.) ‘Enforcement of copyright etiquette here on THIS forum’ reminded me of my years of university experience which I would have no wish to repeat and I didn’t like that. ( I consider myself retired from all that. )

However, I always appreciated the position it puts the MODs in (especially once reminded. -thank you!) and I do have the grace to know that ultimately you (that is ‘all you’ who stand in your position in the discussion re copyright and not you yourself) are RIGHT with a capitol R. I wish the world was ordered differently but know I can’t change it. I was also thankful for the chance of the discussion in order to rest my case and get rid of the frustration. (twas but a scratch!!!!… despite being made limbless! (J Great Video- still makes me laugh!! Thanks Bowell!)

I am also very sorry. It was wrong of me to put names in the other thread, What I see, as a newbie, is a divide (amongst dieters on this forum) which I am struggling to understand. Made more difficult as I am anyway fairly new to the whole diet thing. It appears to me to be a minefield . I don’t understand quite what’s going on or what went on before to influence it. I don’t generally remember individual names -there are so many here. Though I have to try in order to follow the thread usually. Forum communication IS difficult anyway as you have no visual cues as to the poster’s intentions and beliefs etc. so things are a bit more abstracted. Perfect for focussing on and exploring an idea in a pure way. I’d have thought. I’d liked to have posted this on the thread before Benedict closed it. Mainly as a personal apology. Hope it is ok to post here in response to what you said about you being the one who started the copyright infringement issue/thread. No other agenda than to say I’m sorry if I offended you in any way.
Best wishes.
Sparkles.
