Beginning to see corn-on-the-cob on sale. Is it a vegetable to be treated like potato or is it OK from a BG point of view because it is supposed to be slow to digest or what?
Alan
I think it is a test and see situation with sweetcorn. LIke peas it is fairly high carb content but it is slower and I find that I can eat it in quite large amounts, as long as I am not having lots of other carbs as well. But I have heard others say they have to be careful with peas and sweetcorn.
Me too....way too many carbs so the normal size (200g) ones are out for me. However I can manage the small baby ones which are 80g weight and are only 2.48g carbs (3.1 per 100g).......so I can enjoy one or two of those. Give them a try LL.
Crikey I am on holiday in Canada visiting relatives and corn is in season and we have eaten it most nights as I said it would be safer for me to eat at home so I know whats what - ah well off to rib shack ..
Good for fibre... but it gets stuck in your teeth... butter helps prob but better to test...? 8)
Looked it up in the Collins Gem... cotc is one of the worst for carbs... argh! See my comment about the inverse law in my recent met post... "If it tastes horrid it's doing you good!" Lordy save us.
