Cotton pads

if its a clean cotton pad I cant see the problem. That said, I wash and dry my finger and then prick it and put the blood on my test strip before using a cotton pad. How are you using the cotton pad before testing?

Shouldn't make any difference to your levels unless you are using the cotton pads instead of washing your hands before you test

If your finger is perfectly dry before you use the test strip there ought not to be any problem.
I wash my hands, shake off the water, dry with a towel and then give a final wipe with toilet tissue before pricking and use the tissue to soak any blood after the test.

Yes I'm using them instead
Is there a reason you aren't washing your hands? My hands are very cracked and dry at the moment which is causing great pain and discomfort but I still wash my hands and I test at least 6 times a day so its not helping the situation at all
If you've been touching food at all etc then using a dry cotton pad then I would say yes it could affect the test as they aren't properly clean x

I hope this isn't toilet tissue from the bathroom, as this is supposed to be germ ridden (spray from flushing toilet, among other things).

Do cotton pad affect blood glougese reading
I wanted to reply and say "It depends on how many you eat" but decided that wasn't appropriate! I don't think there is any substitute for washing hands with water and soap. Just water and a cotton pad won't remove any grease or deposits.

Washing your hands with soap or hand wash in reasonably hot water will be far more effective at removing anything you have on your hands than a plain water damped cotton pad

No, I was told not to use hand wash or wipes containing alcohol for testing as it can alter the results. Aside from the Accu Chek wipes that you can buy (if you like being ripped off, that is) I'd say something like baby wipes would be closest.
