Hi everyone
I am new to this site and just wanted some advice please. I haven't been diagnosed with pre-diabetes as not seen a doctor but my morning levels have started to rise, previously around 4-5 but last 4 mornings have been .. 6.2, 6.0, 5.3, 5.8, I am exhausted by 9 pm most days, thristy a lot, need the loo once in night and several times in day. toes/feet numb and cold, one toe swollen and sore. vision more blurry, my Dad, brother, cousin and niece all type 1. Last Hb1Ac , 2 months ago was 37. Just wondered if I was getting pre-diabetic or worrying about nothing. I would be interested to know about other peoples experiences with this thanks.

Please take a look at this information page - if your HbA1c is below 42mmol/mol then (in the UK) you are non diabetic.

https://www.diabetes.co.uk/hba1c-test.html

But if you are in any doubt, go back to your doctor for another test as the results may change quickly.

Hi

Your HbA1c is the test that in the UK is used for (nearly) all diagnostic decisions about T2. On that definition your blood glucose is normal according to your last result.

Morning readings normally show how active your liver is being in making and adding glucose to your system. On those figures, not very. There's a degree of acceptable error (15%, 95% of the time) in fingerprick testing and all of those figures could be generated by a true BG somewhere around 5.7 or 5.8.

The thing is - and I hear you about having T1 in the family - that not everything is caused by diabetes. If you want to get to the bottom of what's causing the things you describe, you need to be talking to your doctor.
