Hello,
I was just wondering if anyone had experienced anything similar with their menstrual cycles or had any advice they could give me as I don't feel that my GP is taking my concerns seriously. I'm 22 and I have been Type One since i was 12, and ended up reaching puberty a little bit later because of this.
Over the years I haven't really looked after myself, probably spending the last 9-10 years running very high blood sugar levels until I had a scare with deranged liver function levels and jaundice with no obvious causes around 12 months ago.
I usually track my cycles anyway with an app just so that I can keep an eye on everything health wise for my own peace of mind, but over the past months my periods have become increasingly heavy and painful, and sometimes lasting up to 9 days. As well as this i've noticed other changes to my body like unexplained weight gain, painful breasts, fatigue, feeling really hot, not sleeping well and my body odor seems to have changed a bit too.
My GP seems to think that this is all a result of hormone fluctuations due to my hormonal implant being removed, however that was around 8 months ago and that doesn't line up with the advice that the sexual health nurse gave when she removed the implant as she advised that normal hormone levels normally return within a couple of months. I'm at a bit of a loss for what to do to be honest so I'm just wondering if anyone's experienced similar treatment or what i can do to get some help on this one.
Thanks in advace.
