Could rinse aid residue be harmful and part of the cause of mellitus?

Food doesn't make healthy people diabetic.
A normal working gut and metabolic tem is perfectly able to cope with all sorts of food.
Have you not heard of intolerance or allergies?
I have had lactose (dairy) intolerance since I was born!
Allergies from food can be from birth!
The gut biome is so huge and everyone is so different in its entirety. Bacteria good and bad in the billions!
So which one is considered normal?

Food has a huge impact on your health, and the causes of endocrine conditions such as T2 are diverse and in some cases unknown.

Have you not heard that arsenic is fine in very, very, very small doses?
But so is water!
Everything in moderation!

I maintain that the grade of fuel going into the craburettor is more important on influencing performance than the sump oil. But both are necessary.

In vivo experiments with autologous FMT however are promising and ongoing, at least in type 1's.
Here is a study for T2D. It is a mouse study, and the way they induce metabolic dysfunction in mice is to overfeed them with a high fat diet and kill off their beta cells with a powerful chemotherapy drug normally used to kill off cancer tumours. It does produce an effect similar to diabetes, but is not diabetes so may be a weakness in the study.

Be aware that mice have two sources of insulin producing tissue and do not have a single pancreas like humans. If they clobber one source with directed injection, then the other source may well take over and compensate.

As requested before, do you have any links to the actual studies you mention?

Well, I had no symptoms what so ever till I went ‘vacant’ HBa1C was 134, husband thought I’d had a stroke or TIA. It seems that I have Haemochromatosis in my family, sister and brother carriers. I’ve been nagging GP for months for a test, iron level at one point was well over 900‍ Finally, got a test recently and waiting to see results. I have SVT, PAF as well as the T2 now. Seems Diabetes and PAF/ AF may be implicated.

Do you have a link to this study?

If washing dishes were a significant effect in causing diabetes then there would be a much larger occurrence of diabetes in women than in men.
Whereas the first link on a google finds; 'Men aged 35-54 are almost twice as likely to have diabetes compared to their female counterparts, reveals our new report 'Diabetes in the UK 2009'

Do you have a link to the actual study, please?

Here's one to a site quoting it.
Medical abstracts are often behind firewalls and only the abstracts are available.

Thank you. It's always a good idea to provide links as making generalised statements like "studies show xyz" is not very helpful. You'll get away with it in the media but not here, where a lot of people are pretty familiar with research.

That link does demonstrate that what they appear to have been doing is establishing that rinse aid is not really good for cells in vitro. I would struggle to apply their stated conclusions to diabetes.

Indeed, it is an in vitro study using a microchip to emulate the gut. Not sure how close this is to in vivo, where the cells are alive and working rather than being spread like jam onto a silicon sandwich. With a dilution rate of 20,000 being found to be toxic, this seems to be oversensitive and possibly obsesssive. That dilution is even worse than homeopathic levels. I see that laundry detergents are also as toxic according to the other study they did. Yes, chemicals will have some effect, but they are Generally Considered Safe when used as directed.

I too find no direct link to Diabetes from these studies.

Thanks for the link.
I agree with @Oldvatr that there is no direct link to diabetes in this study.

The study discusses if there is a link between the use of dishwasher detergents and the increased prevalence of many chronic inflammatory diseases, so nothing related to diabetes.
