I can safly say that the response I got when I said I am going to pop
Was told to go to a&e to get on the list to speak to some one....only was told I was type one three weeks ago.....heads have been ripped clean off...I have no smiles or mojo....I think it should be part of the care pack...but as I used to work in the DOH I can asure u in my location there is no money for it ......
So I am going to have to book at go and asked to be ref to them and that can take three months too ....
But for each location with DNSs should have a team of people who u can talk to on these maters .....but it would mean at least 150k per head per year I would say ...covering full cost of running dept and staff of max two or three

I know the numbers are mad .....but I think it is worth it

    Any ideas lol

I do too...it one of the the things I am pushing to the MPs her in Lewisham to see what they will do for funding as in this area ther is only four DNS team for all of Lewisham and Greenwich ....that near 100.000 people to cover ...it's madness

The support groups in my area through diabetes UK focus on activities and not sharing or focusing on diabetes is this the same in other areas?

Just to throw it out there, a lot of people are doing Skype counseling these days. It might be away to find someone you click with

True fayefaye1429. That's a good idea but I think diabetic counsellors are hard to find?

Most diabetes uk support groups develop from users energy and a lot of trying to get funding.

Yes and according to the area I'm in young people are hard to engage with in this way. The group I have in my area is the average age of 60!!

Oh dear your right Jess there is a lot of groups based for a certain age range. I guess is there a want to meet others, support in a group? or is it individual one to one that is more wanted?

And I want to find a way to get funding to get this sorted ... If working in Whitehall told me one thing ...
If u don't blooming fight for it u will never see it
If DUK would maybe help lobby on this with us all.... We could get a stronger voice on this .... Just a thought

I think this is awesome! Well I wonder if it is starting with a pilot study in one area, using this to collect data and present it from there. This could open funding opportunities as well as allow for other pathways into other areas of the country. thoughts?

I think the best way to do this is like so .....last week I handed in my notice....however....my office was down the hall form Jeremy Hunts office at the dept of health ...
And I have to hand my pass in ...think I will pop in before I go and see if I can speak to his PPS .....think I have may have found a new purpose in life ....
If I do I will just express the concern that is missing in the links that can hold up delays in transfure of care ....etc

An it all .....while parliament is dissolved it would be not much run at it ...no power .....but the director general Jon rouse is just on way to hints office ....
I think to is an idea that should be looked at in some real depth be for I go in in a week .....but I think I world or two before I full leave .....as when I have left I will be focused on my local area for bit ....as mum just had stroke ...I have RA and this dam T1.... So lot of trying to get in to groups finding who's who and getting things out on plate and telling them to eat up .....my fav part of Woking ...stripping it down and rebuilding it better if can lol

Having good connections are brilliant Jonny. If you want any points I developed a funding report once before for funding for diabetic support group.

I don't have a one a day ...I have twice. A day ...booooo..5 injects on fix rate at mo...

Well I think it is better I turn this angry I have into a fight with central Gov....
My kinda battle ......plus how's the times to get this ball rolling ....as this will be a direct fight for funding and to have it fixed....in regard to fund raising ....not a clue....ideas a many I have ...having a team to work with and implement I have not .....yet !

I have appointment today with the DNS and head of team in my area .....think I will ask the questions

    1) do we have ...is there any SDP specialist diabetic physiatrist covered in the NHS trust area
    2) if no ( and sure it will be ) what impact would it have for you and your team to have one?
    3) what coast to you for see it running pa....am at 100k year for two on site SDP with running cost ...iT ...office running etc..
    4) how would you see the training they have to become a SDP ..what would you see as a the base level of info they should know ....near as much as a DSN ??
    5) would you feel that this should be fixed location or an outreach role too....Pepe with bad feet or limbs missing etc

What you think guys ?...oh and ladies ....lol
