People. Noise. Swearing. Many foods.
Since Diabetics (T1 or T2) don't fall into the COVID19 higher risk category, it's no surprise that you don't have to self isolate.
However it is only sensible to practice Social Distancing as much as possible because all the stats from China, Korea, Italy seem to show more deaths among diabetics , but with no breakdown as to Type and whether well or badly controlled.
Neither is there any sign of a scientific theory as to why more diabetics should have died - unless the Covid19 infection causes their BG levels to spike high enough to do it.
Not sure I agree. All the advice I have had and seen says we do fall into the higher risk group as we have an underlying health condition.

What do you mean, yes they are!
The advice is to protect older people (over 70) and those with underlying health conditions, one of which is Diabetes.

So far unless at extremely high risk (cancer/transplants/cf etc) we have been told to limit social contact (not totally isolate) as much as possible for our own sakes as we are higher risk, and to help protect others in our own higher risk group and even more so those in the extremely high risk group.

Do you mean going to your mum’s and associated activities, food shopping and work if you can’t do so from home or in general for socialising?

Refusing to take as many measures as are practical is foolhardy and irresponsible. How would you feel if you gave it to your mum?

I mean I am not able to stay away from my mother i am her carer nobody else can go in at the moment they all have colds , I don't know what would happen if we were all told to self isolate for 12 weeks , my mum would be okay for a while but she would need shopping and so would we all so I am in a situation where I have a huge responsibiltiy to make sure my mum is being looked after . I don't socialize so that makes no difference to me but I will have to shop and my husband is self employed so if he doesn't work we don't eat and certainly the bills won't get paid . If he has to self isolate we would need to apply for the self employed grant that the government mentioned . We also have prepayment meters for gas and electric . What if all shops close and we have run out and can't top up ? This is more worrying and nobody has even considered it as yet . I know the government are doing their best but there is so much that needs addressing .

Both me and my husband are type 2 so what do we do isolate for 12 weeks not run the business and lose it , leave my mother to fend for herself . There is only half information out there and for a condition that is considered a progressive disease but we are not that ill to be given self testing strips, but now we are in the catagory of those with underlying health conditions . I don't know whether I am a healthy person or an unhealthy person it seems to change to fit with whatever they choose .

Have a look at this link. It is the official government website
https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...rable-adults#background-and-scope-of-guidance
They make very clear that you and your mother (assuming she is over 70 years old), need to take this seriously, and do everything you can to reduce the risk of getting the coronavirus and then passing it on to other vulnerable people.

It explains what is expected, and how it should work for carers.

I hope that helps.

Up until today I used to hug and kiss my mother when I left , but today we didn't and it felt horrible i felt mean . She is a widow and is very lonely when i am not there and now with no visitors will be worse. Yes I know it is necessary , there are no cases of coronavirus in our town . I thought there were but they tested negative .

The problem is that people say 'there are no cases in our town'. When the actual truth is that there are no diagnosed cases.
Which is a huge difference considering:
1. Very little testing being done - unlike in Korea
2. It usually takes at least 2 day at earliest before symptoms develop (if they ever do).
3.Even those with no symptoms can be spreading the virus. 'Patient 31' in Korea is thought to have single handedly infected over 1,000 others before she took her symptoms seriously and agreed to be tested! If she were in the UK, she would never have qualified to be tested!

To be honest I am utterly sick of it and I am going to be glad that nobody has tested positive . If there are people with it then must be mild or they don't even know which is even more reassuring .

Good news, the drug combination which has been having such fantastic success in (small) trials for treating Corona Virus has been approved for use for COVID-19 by the US FDA. It is an old , cheap and safe anti-malaria drug.
In the actual ongoing trials it has been used in combination with an anti-pneumonia drug.
Breaking news update on use of anti-malaria drug for Covid-19.

Not sure at this stage if this includes using it in the combination therapy as has been tested, but in any case the other drug is an anti-pneumonia and it's actually the horrifying resulting pneumonia that kills the patients.

And Bayer has announced it is donating 3million of the tablet form of the drug for the USA.
