Covid, like any other virus, can really muck up your blood sugars. And contrary to what virii usually do, Covid can potentially cause a hypo-ish drop rather than a rise in some. Personally I'd be getting the jab again, if I didn't get C19 every three months or so. I come in a lot of places where ill people tend to be, so I get "lucky" often. My antibodies are present and accounted for. But if you haven't had an infection recently, with all the mutations and whatnot, I'd seriously consider getting it... I know I'd have gotten a jab scheduled on the 16th of September, when they became available again in the Netherlands for the "vulnerables", if I hadn't had an infection in the past few months. In the end though, the choice is yours. Just some things to consider, you know. Recent infections, how are your antibodies doing, etc.Hello , do you all have your COVID jabs? I'm a newly diagnosed Type 2 but diet controlled (HbA1C is now 42) . Do I need my COVID jab if I continue to control my blood sugar with diet? I'm happy to have my flu jab but just wonder what you all feel about COVID injections. Thank you !
Hello @VioletViolet I'm also hba1c 42. I've had covid a few times (the nature of the beast with my job) Having covid puts my BG numbers up a little but the jab never does and I get the covid/flu combo yearly. I think everyone is different but I'd far rather have the protection than the disease.Hello , do you all have your COVID jabs? I'm a newly diagnosed Type 2 but diet controlled (HbA1C is now 42) . I reacted like this, had to go to bed for 2 days, not keen on either, got too many medical considerations.I’ve not had any Covid jabs since the 3rd one which gave me a banging headache for a whole week and I wasn’t able to move my arm for a few days after. don’t have a flu jab either.
Anyone diagnosed with diabetes is eligible in England. As well as other categories (like over 65’s) when you go online to book (https://www.nhs.uk/book-a-coronavirus-vaccination/covid-self-referral) it says thisIf I was offered it, I would take it
As you're under 65 you're only able to get a COVID-19 vaccine if you:
You might be asked some questions at the pharmacy to check you're eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.
- have a serious long-term health condition
- are having treatment or medication that means you are at increased risk
- are pregnant
- are in long-stay residential care home for older adults
- are a frontline health and social care worker or staff working in care homes for older adults
If you are not sure, you can read more about who is eligible for a COVID-19 vaccine.
