Whenever I get hit with C19, I go lower. I'm not the only one either. Usually with a viral infection, blood sugars rise.... But for some, with spcifically Covid, and sometimes with the vaccinations too, they drop. It'll likely normalise again when it's over.Diagnosed T2 in May, and found out on Tuesday I have covid. I did a lot of reading and was aware that my blood sugar is likely to rise, however, I have found the opposite, bloods have been raging from 7.0 - 8.0 the last few weeks, however since having covid the have dropped to between 6.0 and 6.8, I just tested now and I’m 5.8 (I know this is still not in a good range). Is this likely to be a temporary thing and bloods will rise again when I’m better? I’ve been eating a little but I don’t really have much of an appetite, but I am still eating.
Hi @Christafur I'm puzzled why you say that a BG reading of 5.8 is still not in a good range ! A single BG reading doesn't mean much since our BG levels change frequently (if not constantly) during the day - especially after we eat food or when doing exercise.Diagnosed T2 in May, and found out on Tuesday I have covid. I have been in remission for almost 3 years and I only ever test BG around meals: just before a meal and then 2hrs later, but I rarely et a reading as low as 5.8 mmol before a meal and don't ever recall having one below 6.5 at 2hrs after starting a meal.
No need to apologise. None of us tend to have any real knowledge of T2 Diabetes when we are first diagnosed.I’m really new to this, so sorry, I just assumed it was in a bad range from what I’ve read.
