Type 2 with insulin. Just started Mounjaro yesterday. Tested positive for covid today !!!

Is there any rules with insulin injections and covid ?

Waiting to hear from diabetes nurse at my surgery.

Hi @Gingerchap your nurse is supposed to give you "sick day" rules for adjusting your insulin doses. (Illness can make your insulin needs go up a lot and the rules tell you how to modify your dosage according to what your blood sugar is doing.

Sadly, the answer is "it depends".

It depends what your insulin regime is - are you on fixed doses or do you carb count?
It depends how your body is reacting. It is common for our livers to pump out more glucose to fight the nasties when we are ill which causes our BG to rise. However, covid seems to be a weird one and some of us have experienced lower BG with covid.
For me, the reaction to the vaccine was a good indicator of what to expect.
