Dairy causing problems

I was under the impression that as long as BG stays below 7.5mmol then no harm was being done to the organs? I think if I were to start worrying about readings going up into the hi 5s I might as well just give up and starve to death. I never test on waking but 2hrs after breakfast, it is always around the mid 5s. I think one has to strike a balance here, even non DB go above 6s, as it could and will end up being an obsessive task, fraught with frustration and demoralising when you are not getting your expected readings. If your feeling well and healthy, why try and achieve something that makes your life hard work, one does need some pleasures in life even if its cheese and cream, God knows life is hard enough without stressing.
I also think that worrying about something which is determined by the chemical process that occurs in your body, and which at times you can do nothing about, can make things even worse because of stress.

Thanks everyone, I think finally I have this sorted out, including dairy carbs. I was not drinking enough water or exercising enough. On Saturday I was mega side swiped with the highest reading I have ever had 8.8. In absolute terror I downed in one a 2 liter bottle of water, 30 minutes later I was 7.1 three quarters of an hour after that 6.2. It continued going down and apart from one spike of 7.3 have stayed in the 5's and low 6's - PHEW!!!

Personally I need to exercise a lot, and also drink lots of water. I was doing both regularly on the ND but slacked when I came off it, now I realise for me, low figures take work, and I will do just that.

Good to here you have it sorted.

I was just wondering today if you were OK.

I am now Lucy - thanks. I just needed to take some time away and work out the cause of all of this. I have now, and am feeling much better, I am just not used to high BG's and what some people would be happy with I'm just not, that doesn't make the person who would be happy with higher numbers, or me wrong, it just means we are different, and my terror of complications, means regular high 6's and 7's is just not acceptable.

Jo you could ask to get the Metformin upped as you are only taking half the max daily dose as far as I'm aware. Like you I find my levels are lower if I drink loads especially in the afternoon. I've also come to the same conclusion as catza about the morning wake up reading. Back in April I was regularly getting 4's but now it's usually mid to high 5's and some days low 6's. That pee'd me off for a while but they drop pretty quickly so such is life.

Hi Steve, I take 500mg of Metformin twice a day. HbA1c result tomorrow, so I will have a word with my GP explain what has gone on and see what he says. I have noticed since I really upped the water, my figures are so much better, so am now making sure I drink a minimum of 2L ever day without fail. FBG was 5.7 today, not brilliant, but liveable with, especially as my highest reading yesterday was 5.9. Guess I am just going to have to accept for now, my lovely 4's are a thing of the past.

OH! WhitbyJet said she had good results with Fenugreek, so I ordered some, I am taking 2x620mg capsules twice a day, starting today, I will let you know how I get on with them.
