Hello all,
I am a 58 year old male.
I was diagnosed with T2 ten years ago. 4 weeks ago I had to change meds from 1 weekly injection of Trilucity 0.75mg to a daily 10mg dose of Dapagliflozin.
Really struggling with the Side effects : Zero energy, intense muscle mass loss, brain fog and very low mood. Has anyone experienced similar and how have you managed to control the side effects please ?

Important to drink plenty of water. How is your blood pressure?

Hello, you have my sympathy with Dap. A cautionary tale. Nearly three years ago I was prescribed Dap as a new 'wonder 'drug. I was told I would be monitored with blood tests every three months. This didn't happen. Two years ago I had the same symptoms as yourself, but they got much worse with a sudden painful swelling between my legs in personal area. Son took me to A&E, they took one look at my swollen area and said we must operate today. It seems that Dap, which is meant to extract glucose through my pee wasn't working and it was being stored in me. The 'bugs' we all have inside us were feeding on this build up. I had contracted Necrotising Fascillitis, a close relation of sepsis but more deadly. Three more operations, during which they cut out dead flesh in my anal area, plus three weeks in hospital. Then daily visits from Nurses for dressings changes followed for six months. Has healed now, just a scar, that no one sees. Not pleasant experience, has put me off Dap for ever and I would caution anyone to demand regular blood tests to see if they are working properly. Sorry to be a downer .but just be careful with your health.

Sorry about your troubles. Definitely something to watch out for. FWIW I've been on Dapa for months with no problems, so that's possible as well. Good advice about blood tests.

I am diabetic since the late 1970's , insulin dependant and been taking XIGDUO 10 mg/1000 mg (dapagliflozine/metformine) tablets for the past 3 years, before this I was on Metformine for over 20 years, never had a problem, maybe you could ask your doctor about this medicine

My sympathy too!
Shortly after beginning 10mg daily of Dap I developed balanitis which then moved to UTI followed by bladder infection and had multiple antibiotic courses to get rid! Should have taken more care to keep clean & dry. Now reaping the rewards as now 6.7mmoiL average and pre- diabetic. Still taking Metformin, 500 mg twice a day.
Does not suit everybody.

I looked up the known side effects.
Dapagliflozin side effects
None of the things that you list here are included in the list.
Have you confirmed with your medical team that these effects are due to Dap?
Is it possible that there is some other cause?
The symptoms sound like my reaction to statins, apart from intense muscle mass loss.

Have you had your ketone levels checked?
Burning muscle for energy is sometimes caused by insulin resistance and/or insufficient insulin taking you into ketosis.

We can't diagnose, but Dap and Trulicity are very different drugs.
Is it possible that your symptoms may be due to withdrawal from Trulicity and not the Dap?
If you haven't already, it could be wise to discuss this with your health care team and ask why you were taken off one drug and put on another.

I have a personal interest because I take Dapagliflozin and am obviously concerned if these are side effects.
