I was on vacation in Paris last month and I admit that I did indulge in a few foods that I normally wouldn't. That's all I'll say about that.
After all this time of meat only, did it upset your stomach? Just curious.

I eat oats or porridge with berries every morning. I eat a variety of fruits every day - though I'm strict about portion size. I eat veg freely and don't worry about carbs in veg at all. I eat bread maybe once a week. No pasta or rice at all - but the odd carby snack when I have spare calories for the day eg rice cakes or baked potato chips (maybe 2 or 3 times a week - and again a very controlled portion.)Hello,
Firstly can I start this with the fact that I am in awe of so many on here following such a strict LCHF diet and also to say I am type 2 (we think) healthy bmi/weight. But are there any forum members out there who don't follow such a diet regime? Or at least not such a low carb diet?
You see I am struggling at the moment....a lot and am miserable! I read posts on here where people "never cheat" or fast for days (how? That's amazing!) etc etc but back in my little world I have things that crop up like birthday celebrations, weddings and so on. Every time I even slightly indulge I feel terribly guilt ridden and it's horrible.
So my question is do any of you eat healthy food which does include some carb? I try to keep away from pasta, rice, bread (but eat low carb bread/ protein roll). I haven't eaten a banana since April or had a glass of fruit juice/fizzy drink or any breakfast cereal. Those restrictions I can cope with but forever? Never having rice with a curry? Never having the odd slice of pizza? Never eating a bit of cake?
I'm not talking mass carb overload here just the odd spoonful of rice or pasta now and again or the odd potato.
I am so glad i did the 800 cal blood sugar diet and also glad I have been low carb but please can I hear from those of you who aren't so obsessed with carbs like I've become?
I probably wont hear from anyone now as you're all so good! But thank you in advance.![]()
I don't follow lchf. I do eat lowish carbs although not low by someone who follows a very low carb diets standard. On an average day I would eat porridge with cream at breakfast, a slice of wholemeal bread at lunch and wholewheat pasta brown rice or jacket potato with dinner. I don't snack and I do exercise. I dont add sugar. On special occasions I might even eat cake! I also have a small banana or things like pears and apples, tangerines, berries etc. I eat from scratch no processed or junk food. I tried and failed very low carb, I found it very restrictive and I don't like.to eat fat, I prefer fresh and tasty even if it has more.carbs! I now don't feel.so panicky at the thought of having to spend a lifetime eating foods I dont like in order to keep glucose levels down and am much more relaxed about the whole thing. I also felt like I was depriving my body of nutrients especially those which come.easily with whole.grains like B vitamins and also fibre. I do feel that it is as important to nourish your body rather than just starve your diabetes. I do think balance is very important when it comes to managing a long term condition, you will be living with it a long time, it makes sense to find a diet that works for you, you feel happy with and that you can manage diabetes alongside. You will do it, trial and error at first but you will get there.Hello,

I will do at some.point. The OPs question was 'does anyone eat carbs', I can't see where medication was mentioned? Like.everyone.else who has responded, I have answered her. One day, when I find out how to do it, I will update.@Lally123
it would help members a great deal if you added your medication to your signature.
it is great that you have found a combination of diet and medication that works for you, but just mentioning diet is, for you, not the whole story, and could mislead people.

Ah I see your point now you confused me with your first post. I'm on the app it doesn't tell me what meds other people are taking. It's just a name and when I click on the name there's not much there apart from how many posts people have made.if you go to your profile you will find a signature section where you can enter details.
it is always a good idea to check the details of the person asking the question. sometimes they are on insulin, or not, diet only, or their diabetes type is different from our own.
In @oh_dear_me 's case she(?) is T2 on diet and exercise having refused Metformin (info in profile) so her carb tolerance will be very different from your own, due to your medication.
sorry to speak about you not to you, @oh_dear_me
but i bet you got a bit excited at the thought of Lally's carb intake before the meds were mentioned.![]()
Not at all. After all this time of meat only, did it upset your stomach? Just curious.
What happens on holiday stays on holiday...I was on vacation in Paris last month and I admit that I did indulge in a few foods that I normally wouldn't. That's all I'll say about that.
My next vacation is to Las Vegas. As far as I'm concerned what happens in Paris stays in Paris.
Same applies to Vegas. My next vacation is to Las Vegas.
I won't be quite as tempted in Vegas as in Paris, at least when it comes to carbs.Same applies to Vegas.
I was in Germany and damit I had crusty rye bread with my pork knuckle.
I think it might be easier to be low carb in Vegas. Bourbon and vodka is low carb right?I won't be quite as tempted in Vegas as in Paris, at least when it comes to carbs.
I know vodka is!I think it might be easier to be low carb in Vegas. Bourbon and vodka is low carb right?![]()
