My morning readings were the last to fall and are the first to go back up. I didn't really understand what was going on until I had the free Libre trial and the overnight picture was not what I expected. The Libre showed that very often, my pattern was to suddenly drop very low around 4-5 am (giving readings sometimes in low 3 region) at which point I have sweats, nightmares etc until my liver realizes that it's supposed to be doing something and starts dumping glucose. This naturally starts to increase my BG and it will go on climbing for hours, or until I either eat something or do anything strenuous.Hi all , I mostly understand the How's and why's with DP but i still have elevated numbers to my normal day ones in the mornings and sometimes will stay up till lunch time. Im wondering what other people's experiences have been, how long does it take to see your numbers fall during the day. Was it within the first few hrs or longer . Example today for me 7.3 on rising 2 hrs later pre breakfast 7.2 and 2 hrs post a very low carb breakfast 6.8. I do know they will fall later as I'll usually see nymbers in the 5's later and usually go to bed of low 5 or high 4's.
Think I'll look into it and see if I can get free trial here in ireland if not maybe fund it for few weeks myself I'd actually like to know what BS are doing during the nightMy morning readings were the last to fall and are the first to go back up. The thing is that we all seem to be programmed and wired differently and I found the Libre experience really useful in making sense of what happens for me - particularly when asleep. I don't know if the free trial has ended - it's a substantial expense if you pay for it yourself.
That's good to know. I know I shouldn't be bothered with because of the morning dump I just wouldn't of expected the BS readings to be high at around lunchtime still. I'm also worrying about my hba1c being higher than my last one . I have bloods on wed for my 6th month dx so fingers crossedAfter being in remission for more than 1yr and having had max daily BG finger-prick readings of 8.0 mmol or less for over 2yrs now, my pre-breakfast BG readings are still the highest of the day and sometimes still get up over 7.0.
So please be patient - this could take many years!
The morning dp used to really bother me too. After reading, I think it was The Diabetes Code, I decided to agree with Jason Fung and think of it as a good thing from the excess glucose being released from being stored where it shouldn’t be. My dp stopped once most of my excess weight was off, often not dropping until about 11am, then a steady drop into the 5s. I’m pretty stable in the 5s in a morning now after a year but it will be different for us all. And I still see 6s and the odd 7 if I’ve not been particularly low carb the day before! That's good to know. Abbott make the Libre. I had a quick look and if I'm reading it right the free trial seems still to be running for the UK, but I couldn't see info for RoI. I seem to recall - if memory serves - the cost per two week sensor is around £50.Think I'll look into it and see if I can get free trial here in Ireland if not maybe fund it for few weeks myself I'd actually like to know what BS are doing during the night
I don't understand the theory either. All I know is my fasting is usually 6s, and I can often be up and down around 5-7 most of the day, BUT my last hba1c came back at 38 so it must all even out as I do go under 5, often 4 most of the nightThat's good to know. @KennyA had a quick look online and I think I can get a free 14 day trial here and if I want to fund myself the best price I could find is €66 which I don't mind paying as a once off to see how my BS behave during the night and as @MrsA2 above said chance to experiment with foods and timings the evening before to see if any /or changes to readingsAbbott make the Libre.
