I have a kidney infection and I've been taking antibiotics for five days now. Three a day. I haven't had ketones the whole time I've been ill, but I have been starting to feel better over the last few days. Just ate and felt really sick and now I have quite high ketones. What!:(

Hey @Chloesnavy
are your bloods high as well ?? what sort of diet have you been on the past few days ?

I ate two small vegetable pizza things that they do in the bakery section of Lidl... had insulin with it too. Blood sugars were way above 20 and just started feeling really ill. Ketones have gone now :) thank you

Have you been eating normally? How high are your ketones?

They were third to highest. If that makes sense. I had two small mini vegetable pizza things from the bakery section in Lidl. Never normally gives me ketones though :/

Stuff that. I now have a trace of ketones again. Bloods are 9.3. Ahhhh

Yes I've been drinking lots of water and testing etc. My ketones are coming back again now. Ahhhhh lol

So have you been applying sick day rules to treat high blood sugar and ketones? If you're applying sick day rules with a 10 or 20% of your TDD to correct ketones and it's not working you should call 111 for advice or just get yourself off to A&E.

Hi, I'm quite new to diabetes and I'm type 1 my blood sugar is all over the place but my ketones haven't been more than 0.2, I would highly recommend that you phone or go to see your diabetic nurse/ doctor or just go straight into your local hospital.
