Well I'm on my second day of low carb diet. I've had no fizzy pop and my readings were between 5 an 6 before an after. Trying hard to stay strong. Feeling good and confident.
This site an the members is such a great support. I feel I have thousands of people behind me.
Merry Christmas diabetic family.

Well Done,
Keep faith in yourself, you will get there, hope you have a peaceful Christmas

Told ya !!!

Seriously though, Well done :)

Your readings are awesome, I tipped in this morning at 17.5!! Bye bye Bushmills Whiskey ;( the sorrow lol
Well done you!
Lol oh yes a good single malt mmm
yes I'm on day 7 and haven't had any readings over 6. So this low carb high fat diet does really work.not to mention the weight loss factor. I drink wine but I've noticed it seems to lower my readings. Which I don't understand why as it contains some sugar. But I'm glad cause i wouldn't be giving up my drink of wine here in there with a meal. Cheers Claire maybe you could research whisky there maybe some that is less sugar than others...

Is it red wine? Sounds like it. A glass or three will drop your blood sugars. Great work on the numbers :)

Yes, alcohol has a strange effect. Any sugar will raise the BS initially and quickly, but the alcohol then lowers it as the liver is too busy processing the alcohol to produce its own glucose. Once the alcohol is cleared from the system the BS levels can go up again.

Red wine, dry white, and most spirits are OK to drink as they have hardly any sugar. Beer is the one to avoid.

Oops, was meaning to ask you how it's going Nessa?
Sorry,
Bee Gee
Hi BeeGee. It's going quite well so far. Readings are still not over 6. Though I do wonder how I'm going to be able to maintain this low carb dieting it's expensive. I had my first ever low carb hamburger and I'm addicted lol. It's the best burger I've ever had. And inexpensive too. But gladly tasty and I didn't mind atall it was wrapped in lettece...
