Hi , type 1 diabetic for 24 years and have had terrible back pain for over 12 years . l had an X - Ray and MRI however never showed anything yet it is very painful 24 / 7 I cannot lie down straight and is tender to touch . I do not know what to do as every day is miserable. My hips are tender to touch , l seize up after being on legs for 5 minutes . My ankles are also very sore daily and very agitated non stop . l am desperate for advice as very down with this all.

Go see either an orthopedic surgeon or a neurosurgeon that does spinal surgery. They'll want to see the imaging studies you have had. They may want another/more imaging study(s). Don't mess with a GP they'll just give you pain pills.

Hi @megan2002 Sounds awful, no wonder you're struggling, I'd chase up for a referral for a specialist, it needs further investigation and due to the distress it's causing you then you need to really push hard, don't get fobbed off, I don't have any answers but don't give up and good luck.

Try stop eating nightshades veggies if you do. Tomato, eggplant, all forme of peppers and potato.
I was getting leg / foot cramps and stopped all nightshades. All cramps gone

Thanks is really frustrating when it feels so bad yet nothing found. l fought very hard just to get an MRI and feel utterly deflated.
