It’s very hot in the uk today and I decided to get frozen berries including frozen cherries and melon balls from the freezer to eat with Greek yogurt. My mmol is raised to 6.7 after this and I wonder if it was because I decided to pop berries in microwave as they weren’t thawing quick enough... noticed cherries were warm. Has that changed the property of the fruit? Thankyou, still learning, now on 4 metformin a day after diagnosis 7 June.

It is possible to have a minor effect.
Raw fruit has all the sugars parcelled up in individual cells so it takes longer to release them and some just pass through.

This is why fruit juice is more "sugary" that the raw fruit.
Raw orange better than orange juice.
Raw apple better than apple juice.
Fruit juice still not good, though.

Using the microwave could have burst some of the cells in the fruit and released more sugars.

I have no idea how much effect this would have, though.

I think it's mainly the cherries and possibly the melon that raised your bloodsugars, actually... Cherries aren't berries, they can be pretty carby...

Ps: have to say though, only going up to 6.7 on that meal, is still pretty good.
