11 years ago I was advised to cut down on the chips and white bread. The only advice I have had since then has been gleaned from the Diabetes.co.uk forumsGreat news, Scotsdude! Definitely in the right direction!! Isn't it amazing how good it is to get recognition and encouragement from health care professionals!

I was tempted to put a 'LOL' there, but I am deadly serious!
Just been back to see my practice nurse HBA1C now down to 37 and weight down to 98 kgs (15 stone 6 lbs) a loss of 10 kgs ( 22 lbs) to be told that I have done very well and am almost in non diabetic figures and can now stop taking metformin (was taking 2 * 500 mgs)I have just been to see my practice nurse about my HBA1C from 19th May to be told that I have made "a vast improvement since last meeting in December weight loss of 11lbs (4.99kg), HBA1C 45 (6.39) Cholesterol 4.58 Blood Pressure 130/70 and weight 17 stone (108 kg) With a height of 6 feet (1.83 metres).
Whilst I am aware my weight is still too high overall I am highly delighted.
