Demoralised and giving up!

RPKNW, I hear and understand all you say, I have already had to tell her I do none of this for her benefit, it is for myself, and any decisions I make will be in spite of, and not because of, her dictats! :D
I don't usually let the muppets of this world get to me but treating me like a naughty schoolgirl with the reasoning power of an amoeba really sets me off. I can see where you went with your attitude, and I'm sure it was, at the time, the right thing for you. However I must say there have been occasions when I have had to rethink my stance on things, usually decisions taken when I have lost patience with clowns like your dietician :twisted: Thank you for your input

Cugila, sometimes I think you should put down your spade before the hole gets too big, but my problem is that after years of being superior to men, along came the bra burners who wanted to mke me EQUAL! This low I cannot go :lol: :lol: :lol:

Oh Lord, give me strength! This advice is almost exactly wrong; I'd get out of the 'care' of this DN as soon as possible or else remember to take her an **** and elbow chart for her to consult next time.

The point of our diabetic control must be to achieve as closely as possible non-diabetic HbA1c's (as long as in doing so we are not risking hypo's or other issues); cholesterol for all the reasons given is a complete red herring, and yours is absolutely fine.

She is probably spouting some half understood response to the Accord Study with your 'too low' HbA1c by the way; we've dealt with that (and some other points) here - viewtopic.php?f=18&t=9427

Tomatoes don't have carbohydrate?? You as a patient are not allowed access to your own records?? What a world this person is living in...?

Dillinger, I decided in the early hours of this morning that in future I will only see my GP, who at least listens and discusses, not always to our mutual agreement, :oops: but we can usually find a middle road. I love the idea of an **** and elbow chart, and will spend this pm designing one for future run -ins with the less than helpful health care providers :twisted:

I got demoralised and gave up about a year after getting diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. That first year, I worked my ass off keeping my bs and chol level low, and stuck to a weight loss diet, but officialdom got me so frustrated with differing opinions and methods of working, I just lost the plot. I seemed to be forever waiting for them to get their arses in gear, and they just never did. It dawned on me then, that things couldn't be that serious if medical folks don't take it as seriously as I did at the time. I thought - what the hell? Had type 2 for 6 years now. Still not getting the help I need. Never will.

Don't give up mate. If it's help you need, this forum is the place for you. Believe me, we've almost lost count of the people who have completely turned things around since joining us here.

I found bloodsugar101.com about the most helpful thing I found before I found my way here. All the things the medics don't tell you.
 
Droyslden, after reading the messages here, I am no longer so down about it, in fact I realise it's not my fault Nursy is a clown :evil: . Decision made that what I do shall be of no further interest to her, but I will strive to do the best I can for myself by listening and learning to the wealth of knowledge to be found on these posts. She depends on me and fellow patients for a livelihood, I depend on her for nothing!
I hope that you do well for yourself, and get all the help you can from this forum :)

I wish I had your HbA1c! mine was 7.4 last and I'm trying hard to bring that down.
Perhaps the panel can comment, but I think that spikes are important the longer they last. IOW short ones don't bother me.
Getting your cholestorol breakdown is essential for you to be able to manage your condition, and ask your nurse to support you in that. Sensible and persistent requests without confrontation may get you the best results.
Giving up is perfectly OK, by the way , provided you accept the consequences

You have done well! I think that you have done well!
I find that if i eat tomatos canned or baked beans i rocked to the sky! I mean i can hot 24 plus!
My diabetic nurse is great she likes the food diary! She says it is best to test regular as avoiding the spikes is the only way to protect our bodys!
You keep your chin up! You are doing well!

Have tried that Peter, and banging my head against a brick wall was FAR more productive! Have realised from my GP's comments since my last meeting with Nursy that she only understands confrontation. From now on my results will be printed out and the Doctor will give them to me direct. :lol: :lol: What a shame we could not have reached that stage amicably, as I am too old and b****y tired to do battle :roll:
 
Just buy a good jotter or notebook with plenty space and use that.

Work out the info you want to record then draw lines to accommodate each column.
 
Make a good personal food diary in an Excel spread sheet. you can leave space or loads of other things, such as exercise in the right places.
