Really depressing article above but a lot of people do go to a&e. Not sure whether they will help you but maybe as a last resort?

It really angers me that governments with supposed universal health systems don't cater for people's most basic dental needs.

I hope your diabetes team can make some suggestions. Good luck.

I don’t know if any info here would help you. Looks like 111 is your first port of call:

In the past I’ve called the number above that @Rachox has directed you to once for toothache from a broken filling and once for an abscess on my gum and you do get treatment to solve the problem, it’s not free but charged at NHS prices unless you are on certain benefits

There should be an emergency dentist available in your area. If it comes to it, then go to A&E. If you do have an abscess, at best you will need antibiotics.

I have been having similar dental problems as well. It is advisable to make sure you work hard to get your HBA1c level near your recommended target. Yesterday I was given antibiotics this is the second time in a space of 6 months. I have been to see the hygienist and had a deep clean in December 2023. Use inter dental brushes to help with plaque especially on a night time before brushing your teeth. Avoid excessive brushing too. Also using periogard or corsodyl tooth paste and mouth wash does help with gum conditions. Hope this helps. But I would advise to speak to your dentist who knows your condition.
