Desmond Day Course

DR123
I went on X-pert taster session today the information given was along the NICE guidelines, healthy eating to include starchy carbs with each meal! I listened and answered some questions. The tea trolley came and yes the biscuits were there along with skimmed milk and flavoured waters! Plain water on lower shelf. There is a 6wk course which is available if you want. Not mind blowing but basic information for those who know nothing about T2.

I have been referred for the Desmond course but not heard anything yet. Was told it would only be a 2 hour session though, so possibly not the full course?
Not sure but I think I remember someone on this forum saying they went on a DESMOND course that was 4x2 hour sessions over 4 Saturdays. Perhaps that would be for people who are employed and can't get time off work during the week.

Hi @Prem51 -funny you should ask 4 out of the 12 (not me honest!) But the dietician practically said it was OK as there is only 70 calaries in each biscuit, it made the lecture a bit of a joke.

I went on the Desmond in my area . They packed in to much for 1 day. I was the youngest (44) people didn't want to chat. Lots of things I already knew . Nothing earth shattering. So much the nurse at my GP service spoke to me about.

I've done Desmond and recommend if a newbie. I ignored the diet stuff but learnt a lot about the proceeds that cause diabetes. How your body reacts, why things go wrong. I was the only person tested - I said it was part of my self management, the facilitator agreed. Many people seemed uneducated about their condition, "I just can't give up cakes", saddened by their attitude. I saw it as a way to get educated - and would suggest anyone goes.
