Same situation as me, I felt like I was educating them, and I've been diagnosed only since January! Also I have to wait a year to go on the carb counting course, which I'm really keen to do! But I asked about how protein and fat in food will effect my readings and was told I'm taking on too much to soon :(
My response to this would be to go back and ask them why they think they have the right to decide how much you choose to take on and when you do it. It is, after all, your diabetes and not theirs, and you are the one who makes these decisions, not them.

As you are asking for help, you'd appreciate it being given rather than being told by someone that doesn't know you that you are trying to take on too much too soon. Then stick in the "Surely it's better that I want to take care of myself and limit the damage to my body that can occur with poor information and the costs this will incur to the NHS" for good measure. I expect that you'll get a response on that one....

I'm assuming that you've looked at the BDEC course already, but it's worth being pushy and difficult with them, because it's your diabetes, so really, they should be working with you.

You put that very well! I will try that one when I have my next appointment! It saddens me that this sort of thing is very common, people who have a good dsn/endo are very lucky! I just read so many articles and forums, the advice from people living with type 1 is much more informative than some professionals that seem to regurgitate a book! Have you done the BDEC course? I have looked into it and think I will sign up :)

Some 14 years ago I was given the option of DAFNE or BDEC as structured education. I opted for BDEC as it took less time and I could do it on my own time.

I don't use skintac anymore as it tended to dry out when stored in a drawer but was ok in a fridge. I now use liquid body glue which is used to fix glitter to skin and also stage make up. It comes in a bottle similar to nail varnish and has a small wand brush to apply the liquid to whatever surface. Just one good brush load is all that is needed to spread underneath the sensor, wait a few secs for the body glue to go clear and then place sensor on skin and insert the introducer. It's very economical and is on ebay and Amazon. I get Fun & glitter.
I also stopped using Opsite as I objected to paying out for thick cardboard roll that the film is wrapped around.
A nurse gave me some Tegaderm to use instead so I just buy that now as its much easier to use and folded in half it's easy to cut out the rectangle in the film to go over the transmitter. The body glue and a tegaderm stay stuck for about 12 days at least and only the film starts to curl back but can be re stuck again with a dab of body glue.

I'm currently in the mood to create some nice girly stickers to go over the transmitter so that we all dont look like prison tags lol

I just sick micro pore tape on after week one. It keeps the sensor stuck on for an additional two weeks. But looks grim. And can really do with replacing after a few days with careful peel off and application of fresh micropore or it just ends up covered in fluff.

I keep seeing rave reviews for griff grips but I haven't tried them myself due to postage cost! But they do look cute & have some girly ones, so might be worth a look, even if only for inspiration - http://www.grifgrips.com/collections/dexcom-other-cgms
