Dexcom G6 Sensor Day 8

Just wondering if anyone has experience with a G6 sensor behaving very erratically (6.7 to 3.1 and back to 6.5 in 10 minutes, no insulin, no food, finger prick 5.4 for example)?

If it’s the sensor I wonder if Dexcom would replace it, but how to differentiate between a sensor malfunction and a transmitter malfunction? I guess the only way is to put on a new sensor and see if it works properly to rule out the transmitter but I’m not sure

Would be applying pressure to the sensor?
This sounds exactly as CGMs behave when the report compression lows.
It is more commonly reported wrt Libre because people lie on their arms when asleep. But it is not a Libre “feature”. It applies to all CGM sensors.
When pressure is applied, they report a false low. This can usually been seen by a sudden drop and rise again showing a short dip on the graphs.

I don’t think they’re compression lows (I should have mentioned that these jumps have been happening most of the day). But now that you mention it, it’s possible because I’ve been wearing a jumper all day today for the first time this year — the jumper is quite tight and perhaps that and the extra layer of clothing is pressing on it… I’ll put on a looser jumper and see if that makes a difference. The jumps in readings do seem to happen when I’m sitting down (making the jumper tighter) as well so it’s possible… experimenting now, thanks!

Hi,

Whatever readings you are getting. If there has been no break in the graph? Then logically it would suggest there is no issue with the transmitter or your receiver. (Of course there can be other devices that can sometimes disrupt communication.)

A tight long sleeve base layer in winter if I’m working in the cold can cause some crazy compression fluctuation lows & rebounds with my Libre.

I’ll tag in @Juicyj .
