Dextro energy tabs... help please...

Hi guys I carry a pack of dextro energy tabs with me either as part of hypo treatment or just fo a quick boost if running a little too low. Problem is that they come in a paper packet and am looking for a suitable box or container to keep them in as once open the remaining tabs at times fall out of the pack :arghh:... ideally approximately the same dimensions as the packet itself... any recommendations or info as to where i can obtain such a container would be great..:) Many thanks
 
I use glucotabs which come in a plastic cylinder which is resealable. Sometimes refill with square dextrose but it's not an ideal fit as they rattle!
 
Called "glucotabs" buy them in boots, on tube mentions gogluco.co.uk they are 4g cho each my dextrose are 3g.
 
I prefer Dextro tabs. I've yet to find a perfect container though. I often put them in a small plastic bag if I worry about them getting damp, but usually I just carry them in my pocket. The trick is not to tear back too much paper so as to avoid the packet coming apart. I push them up with my fingertip when they're level with the top of the torn paper.

Yes, I've perfected this sad technique having eaten thousands of the things during my diabetic career : D

Perfect solution, the Glucotab containers are very robust :)
 
Thanks Mahola. I don't like the packaging though! lol I tend to use an empty strip container although limited as to the number it can contain!

I don't think one is going to be concerned about the overal design of the packaging with blurry/colourblind/light sensitive/flickering eyesight along with the general "spin out" of hypoglycemia..
It's just good practice to carry unsoiled treatment.! ;)
 
You can also get GlucoTabs in pots of 50 (although generally online only, not in Boots) for about £2 per tub. I tend to buy the minimum to get free postage and they have always come with a 2 year shelf life.

Stopped using Dextro tabs when riding on rough roads caused a packet to turn into a fine white powder that coated my belongings in the bag on the back of the bike I was riding.

Didn't realise they did larger packs go for these and refill the t tubes thanks for the tip :-)
 
I use Glucotabs, and decant them from the bulk pot or the thin tube into an empty test strip pot - mine will hold 7 tablets and they are completely airtight and splashproof, fitting much easier into a pocket than the long tube would.

To avoid confusion I peel the label off the empty test strip container, so it's white, whereas its test-strip-containing cousin remains labelled.

I use gluco tabs. I buy them in the big pots of 50, then transfer them into the small tubes of 10 to carry around with me.
 
Glucotab pots of 50 are often available from Asda pharmacy outlets and have also sourced them from Lloyd's and some smaller independent pharmacies. Pot is same size as drinks can and sits perfectly in my drinks can holder in car.
 
Edited my previous post above to say that my test strip pots (Accuchek Aviva) snugly hold 7 tabs (not 8 as I started earlier). Enough for a couple of hypos.

Very concerned at your post, @therower - where does your coffee go?!

I just bought my first tube of Gluco tabs to keep in the car-I have not actually used any in the two years I have been on insulin. I have used Snickers (chocolate candy bar with peanuts) and chocolate milk several times though. The gluco tabs came in a nice plastic tube containing 10 tablets for $1.00. I did not think about expiration dates though and now I will check them for a date.


@Snapsy they fit in my cup holder as well in a pocket in the door. I have another two coffee holders in the middle console of the car. Cup holders are the first feature I look for in a new car.
 
Anyone remember the Pez Sweets dispensers? They should have them for Dextro Energy tabs.

Stopped off a Boots from work and got those myself...tube is great... Tried one Mmm so **** hard not to eat the whole tube
