What is this please. My husband, 61, is Type 2 diabetic and on medication. His diabetes is not at all well controleed with constantly high readings. We have no real idea what diet he should follow to lower these readings and the doctor has not really given us guidance. he drinks no alcohol and does not take sugar in drinks etc. he is slightly overweight and has severe back pain and siatica. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Dislikes
soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
What medication is your husband using?
What does he eat at the moment?
with this information, we might be able to help

Many of us control our blood sugars more easily with reducing the amount of carbohydrate in our meals.

Eg bacon and egg instead of breakfast cereal and toast.

chicken salad instead of a chicken sandwich.

fish, broccoli and cauliflower in a cheese sauce instead of fish/potato pie.

Sometimes even when a restricted carb diet is followed the sugars are still too high and medication changes are needed.

This might be worth a read

testing is all important to discover what your limits are

As well as keeping BG down preferably below 8 (the point at which many people notice neuropathy flaring up again) there's a protocol of Alpha Lipoic Acid 300 - 600mg/day and Evening Primrose Oil 500 - 1000 mg/day which was listed on a very useful but temporarily unavailable website
