Each year Diabetes Awareness Month strives to bring worldwide attention to diabetes, and to commemorate this year's campaign we'll be showcasing some of the incredible success stories from the diabetes community. Users of our award-winning Low Carb Program and Diabetes Forum have reported how making healthy lifestyle changes has helped them to reduce their HbA1c levels, lose weight, improve several health markers and in some cases, even put type 2 diabetes into remission. Rachel Griffin is a moderator on the Diabetes Forum. She is a retired nurse, aged 56, and has been sharing her inspirational story in a bid to help others. Last year she was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It came "out of the blue", she said. She struggled to make sense of the NHS’ dietary guidelines, but when she found the Diabetes Forum she didn't look back. She cut her carbohydrate intake and regularly tested her blood glucose. Within eight months she had lost nearly six stone. "I now have a non diabetic HbA1c and have lost five stone in weight." Rachel said in January. "I feel better than I have done in years. I have immense praise for this Forum, the admins, the moderators and all the Jo public contributors, there is so much expertise here and always a response to be had, whatever the question." Earlier this year Rachel featured in the Oxford Mail, and she was also invited to take part in a live interview on BBC Radio Oxford. Rachel is one of the most inspiring success stories on the Diabetes Forum, and similar stories are being more frequently reported as the benefits of eating healthily are shown to positively impact diabetes management. Every day throughout Diabetes Awareness Month we'll feature a success story from the diabetes community. We'll also be active throughout the month with a number of campaigns to involve the diabetes community, and you stay updated with us on social media using the hashtag #StrongerTogether.

I think we'll have to rename @Rachox "Ambassador Superstar!" Along with @Goonergal and @Debandez
and not to forget @CherryAA (as if we ever could).
And everyone else who gets out there and tries to change things..

Thanks for your vote of confidence x I’m just one small part of the low carb revolution, chipping away at old thinking, one day soon we’ll get there! :)

Those who cannot resolve their diabetes by low carb eating and exercise alone always has other weight loss or reducing IR by other means options. (Meds and operations).
I'm willing to be their voice as not everyone is the same. Right?

A pathway to resolve/reverse diabetes has all different starting points. Some journeys are far far longer than some.
The long game, for me.

Congrats @Rachox. All good causes need their champions and you are certainly one!!
Some paradigm shifts happen suddenly, others take time to thaw and reform into the new pattern.
Please keep chipping away at the old frozen Eatwell 'ginger cake' and similar monolithic constructs.
One type of eating and food choices of course will not suit all but it has the potential to influence the vast majority of diabetics. That is monumental.:):):)

@Rachox I've posted before but another Well done from me.
You definitely deserve praise for your outstanding achievement. No doubt. :)
I'm not against repeated praise to anyone who is renound for 'keeping the faith' of low carb eating for diabetic benefits.
It is a fantastic tool.
If I hadn't had it in the past few years I would definitely be in a darker place. :)
The forum has saved my life, in many ways. Educating me into accepting different foods are beneficial after all.

Hence meeting and warming to one of our City centre butchers. Not feeling guilty about buying pork scratchings.

Thankyou @Rachox and all others on the forum who keep me going. ;)

@Rachox you have given so much hope to the newly diagnosed and for that fact alone you deserve a medal. You havn't been a 'I'm alright, Jack' and disappeared from DCUK but continue to be a source of inspiration to those around you offering advice and support all the day long. I thank you, lass.

@Rachox - I bet you never expected all this fame when you were diagnosed - you've done some sterling work!
