Hi, I have been type 2 for over 2 years & managing pretty well through diet, exercise & monitoring using a Libre 2+ sensor. I am on Sitagliptin once a day. I have recently been diagnosed with skin cancer (operation in 10 days) & in the last couple of weeks my blood sugar levels have suddenly “improved” from an average of 7.4 m/mol to 6.4 m/mol. I’ve had 9 low glucose events this quarter instead of the usual 2 or 3. Last night I did a test & had a hamburger with a few chips & half a desert for dinner. My blood sugar didn’t go above 8.5 - it’s very weird. The sensor seems to be OK - within 0.5 with direct blood tests.
Is there a link with the skin cancer or is it stress? I have also been feeling very tired during this period & having to take naps during the day sometimes.

Hi @Paule Foster , I’m so sorry to hear about your cancer diagnosis. With regard to your lower blood sugar levels have you checked the readings with a finger prick. I use the Libre 2 plus as well and I have had a couple which have read consistently low. I have had them replaced by Abbott after a short phone call. They will ask for several reading from a finger prick and the make and model of your blood sugar monitor, for comparison. They have then sent me a replacement and sometimes they ask for the faulty one back.
Oh and btw most people find that stress raises blood sugars.

Thank you for your reply. I usually check it first thing in the morning with a finger prick & the Libra Sensor has been on the low side this week - very low yesterday & today. I have done about 5 finger prick’s during the day & it’s been between 4.5 & 5.5 all day which is nonsense. I am following your advice & phoning them tomorrow. I sent one back last month because it just stopped working about day 9
Yes stress & high temperatures do affect blood sugar as well & it’s certainly been both lately.
Many thanks Px

All sorts of things raise and lower blood sugars eg the hot weather???

Hi Ellie,
Thank you for replying-yes I’d not really considered the weather or stress. I’m fairly consistent. I’ll start a new sensor & talk to Libra tomorrow.
