Diabetes.co.uk is relaunching #FacesOfDiabetes and several other campaigns to mark the launch of Diabetes Awareness Month. The #FacesOfDiabetes and #BlueNovember social media campaigns encourage people with diabetes to upload their selfies and stories about having diabetes and share them to help show the world what diabetes really looks like. In November 2016 the #FacesOfDiabetes campaign reached 20 million people and led to 25,000+ members of the diabetes community sending us their selfies. This is the third year in a row that Diabetes.co.uk has spearheaded Diabetes Awareness Month. In 2015 our #BloodSugarSelfie campaign on World Diabetes Day reached 18 million people. The campaign also won the 2015 EHI Award in the "Best Use of Social Media to Deliver a Health Campaign" category. To celebrate Diabetes Awareness Month we are also holding theme weeks throughout November to raise awareness of various stigmas and issues within diabetes. This week we'll be focusing on the high levels of sugar within certain foods. As ever, the pinnacle of Diabetes Awareness Month is World Diabetes Day on 14 November, to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting, co-creator of injectable insulin. This year's theme is 'Women and diabetes - our right to a healthy future'. Keep checking our Facebook and Twitter pages ahead of World Diabetes Day to see what we’ve got in store. On World Diabetes Day in 2015 we launched our award-winning Low Carb Program. To get further involved with Diabetes Awareness Month you can also add a frame to your Facebook profile picture. To do this visit www.facebook.com/profilepicframes. Within 24 hours, 18,000 members of the diabetes community were using these frames. You can also check out our Diabetes Awareness Month 2017 Phone Wallpapers.

Maybe November should have low carb cooking roadshows, nationwide.
Involve some high profile chefs?
Awareness comes in all forms?
