I’m currently in shock….. I was diagnosed about 5 years ago, and was up and down to start off with. Then good for a while, lost weight, with great readings. Then mentally and physically Ill for a while, pilled weight back on and rubbish readings.
Had my bloods taken last week and appointment with the diabetic nurse, who said she’d ring me with the results on Friday.
Fully expecting a bollocking, as I’d been roughing pizzas every weekend and drinking. the phone rang… and my Hb1ac was 38…… I couldn’t believe it, 38 & last time 39.
She said I’m in remission and can come off the medication!!
The only thing I can think I’ve done…. Is cut out carbs at breakfast time. Who’d have thought that air fried sausages & bacon were part of the answer!

Hi,

what were you drinking?
Spirits like vodka with Diet Coke for me accompanying something like pizza. Somehow flatten out in the right range?
Granted, I’m T1 on insulin. & a pizza is on a rare occasion. (Trash, after a gig?)
I wouldn’t advocate drinking. But it can sometimes keep the liver busy from dumping glycogen?

Depends on the make of sausages? They can contain carbs as an adulterated filler..?

I tip my hat to you on the A1c and the new you…. :)

To be fair, I’ve been drinking Corona lager….. and the occasional Peroni. Or Gin & Slimline tonic And the sausages have been from Aldi or Asda so nothing special

I’ll be honest with you. I haven’t done lager or beer in a long, long time… My pancreas is skewed, & I can’t be messing with exogenous insulin “guesstimating” for it? Gin & slimline I also do..
Hopefully, a carb conscious T2 member may have the “stats” on an Aldi or Asda brand?

Do you use a meter? Or even a sensor?

The answer to your question 'who'd have thought...'
Is most people who have actually tested a traditional cooked breakfast versus one with breakfast cereal and fruit juice !
Breakfast is often a make or break meal for T2 diabetics because for the majority of people it's so extremely carbohydrate heavy.

With the sausages, it depends. Those that are high meat content typically aren't too bad. I've found the bratwurst sausages from Aldi aren't bad, and they do mini ones. I find a mini one chopped up and added to microwave scrambled eggs is a very quick and easy breakfast - two minutes to prepare, one bowl and a fork to wash. Little bit of pepper and salt, and it's scrumptious.
