Diabetes related?

It can be down to diminished circulation, low-anticoagulation levels (blood clotting), too little salt in your diet, too much exercise, dehydration, excessive fluid loss in sweating, not stretching before exercise all manner of things. Have you asked your GP.

I googled "feet cramps, leg cramps" yesterday and there's a lot of potential reasons. I get it regularly at night in feet and legs and shin splints. I know three of the reasons apply to me.

The internet does hold great information, but if you're unsure, I'd see the doc, as potassium supplements or other vitamins may see you right, or taking on board more fluid like water/squash. I can't diagnose, your GP can. Good luck/ have a good l@@k. :)

Thanks for your reply. Hoping its nothing complicated like circulation. I'm heading to the Dr tomorrow so fingers crossed I get some answers.

I have similar problems and getting to the bottom of it is almost impossible by relying on google. There are so many possibilities. I have mild osteoarthritis in my ankle which gives my walk a different gait, that can cause some pain in the legs in addition to the ankle pain and I also take ramipril, which constricts the capillaries, causing a funny sensation. I also have diabetes of course but anything due to that is masked by the other problems. I also get cramps at night, but these may be due to the side effects of certain drugs.

One good thing came out of a trip to the podiatrist, they tested the circulation in my feet, which they said was good. Hopefully your GP will do the same or at least send you to see a podiatrist. If you do have poor circulation, it is often improved by stretching exercises and then some walking. Simple stretching exercises worked a treat for me when I started with all this. It could be anything but some simple stretching is a good starting point.

I walk twice a day, but have been neglecting doing any stretching since I had to give up running a number of months ago. I'll definitely have to get into it again to see if it will help. Thanks for the tip! :D
