Diabetes & sickness bug

Really need some advice. I've been diagnosed with diabetes for just over 5 years now , and up until recently it's been reasonably controlled. However , since Friday I've been battling a sickness bug , and I've manager two bits of toast since Friday evening , my BSL's are ok , hit 13 earlier but it's lowered to 10 just now , ketone reading of 0.2 , I havn't been sick today , but I've hardly eaten , and have no appetite at all , should I be worried ? I'm due back to work tomorrow , however I feel I have no energy what so ever , and this non eating is worrying me a little.
Any advice is appreciated

I hope you've taken the day off work to look after yourself. Also hope you are feeling a little better. If you see your GP you might be able to get something to settle your stomach so food is a bit more appealing. Are you drinking fluids ok? It can take a while to get over some of the bugs and your blood sugar reflects your current illness.

Hi Ashley, and welcome to the forum.

I'm Type 2 so don't understand Type 1 nutrition really - eg how often you have to eat - but . .

Have you tried light food? such as scrambled eggs, or a tin of chicken soup, or some poached white fish, or even a warm milky drink - plain milk, maybe with a teaspoon of rum or some such, or even Horlicks? They will all give you a bit of nutrition and should soothe your stomach while your appetite recovers.

And don't go back to work until you're better. If you've not been eating you'll have no reserves of strrength left to keep you going.

Ashley,

As Jen says if you are no better today then I would seek medical advice.

Dairy products are not good for stomach upsets if you can stick to clear soups and maybe a small piece of toast with Marmite .Plenty of liquids are essential so that you dont dehydrate and lots of water helps your BGs. Hope you feel better soon
