Thank you for your very informative reply. I've got an appointment with my endocrinologist in about a weeks time. I am also better at fasting than I am once I've eaten. I've found that if I don't have my regular 2 hourly snacks my glucose levels still drop. Since I've had this problem, before any meds I don't seem to have any kick back to get my blood sugars up when they go low. The only thing that seems to get them back up again is slow release carbs.
As you have already said in your reply. The doctors don't know enough about this. I will take a look on the RH forum.

Hi again, the problem we have, when we do go hypo, is how to get it back up into normal levels.
and how to do it without causing another high spike, which would again react to it.
it is very low carb as a bite and only a bite to nudge your BG levels up. Something like a piece of cheese a dry biscuit and then monitor your BG levels every fifteen minutes, till you have another low carb meal. You would be surprised how quickly your BG levels climb after only a few carbs.
you have to remember RH is a food related condition. And anything that spikes you, is not good for you.
Another finally, and it won't be. My endocrinologist suspected that I had already had the condition at the turn of the century, he suspected that I had progressively slowly but surely was damaging m body, especially the organs, because of the continuous rollercoaster ride of BG levels, everyday because I was advised to have carbs with every meal or should I say, eat healthy foods. So I did...... Porridge, baked potatoes, etc.
But, those foods would have my health so much. By diagnosis, my health had deteriorated so much, my endocrinologist told me that I was really ill.
And if I didn't control the hypos and the BG levels, you could imagine the rest of it.
After my stay in hospital for a fasting test, my weight dropped off, and I started getting healthier.
Carbs are definitely not healthy for me.
I would rather avoid, and have my health.
I'm approaching my 70th year. My hba1c and fasting BG levels are around a steady 6mmols.
and I maintain that level as much as possible.
my body prefers it as well!
