Well I must say I certainly am not encouraged to donate to diabetes for advertising such scare mongering stuff... I have only been diagnosed recently and must say all this "progressive disease" and " you may have long life still even with diabetes" is discouraging and didn,t really give me the fighting spirit. I'm only 34 and would like to have a long and full life (with my feet and eyes thank you very much) and have desided to fight the hardest I can. But being told by my gp that reaching bs levels of 7 and under is almost impossible. I have now done it (between 4 and 6.9) and so far maintaining very well and he is absolutely gobsmacked. So I'm not surprised that so many people find it impossible to reach safe bs levels... I think this site should be made a part of all the leaflets so people could see that with finding suitable choices for them wii minimise/eliminate the possibility of all the nasty side effects.
