Just read on here there are 420.000 members ,that's a lot of people who are able to find good advice on how to control there diabetice and maybe reversing it if a Type2 ,living a long and healthy life, but there are 4.000.000 diabetics a number that is increasing daily ,so simple maths,3.580.000 diabetics getting what advice ?I dread to think .if it was anything like I received ,will the NHS survive the next 20yrs?,just wish I was more optimistic .

Well, there will be some clinics out there that are very good and help their patients and so they wouldn't necessarily need to go looking for other sources of support like a forum......

but yeah, there is probably a majority of that number who aren't receiving the best advice..

We're working hard to get communities such as these noticed by wider health. It's making a difference to people's health, so it needs to be embraced!

There are a fair few who know about it - Partha Kar, Pratik CHoudhary and others who have asked people doing research into treatment mechanism and information delivery systems why they haven't engaged with this group as the largest available resource of its type. Amazing how many in the NHS look on blankly when told that!

There is probably less members if you take people with more than one profile.
The Pancreatitis Support Group managed to get their details on Creon packaging maybe if diabetes.co.uk could get a mention on some brands of metformin or insulin it would help

Also we have to remember that forums like this (and other forms & social media) are not to everyone's liking.

In my limited experience, just 3 hospital stays in 14 months and only visiting one GP surgery, hospital nurses that I've spoken to aren't peddling the old NICE guidelines and my DB nurse and GPs are definitely on board when it comes to dietary advise for diabetics.

So, I think things are changing, just very slowly.

Hospital food is a big problem for diabetics, if you have good control or have reversed your diabetes that will go out the window.if you stay for a long period your health will suffer
